| Burning Man 2009 was a year of change for me. I got the opportunity to create another major sound installation at the base of The Man. I also did this in 2007 while also managing BMIR 94.5 FM radio, as I'd done for years. The two responsibilities were a big burden together (although rewarding). Nonetheless, I didn't want that workload again so I regretfully took a year away from BMIR. Although I missed being part of the radio station, the sound installation went great and it afforded me a lot more time to enjoy the festival without having to carry a staff radio or a watch.
Also new this year was our vehicle: a shuttle bus (like what you might take to to/from the airport) which we bought 3 weeks before Burning Man. Not to worry, the Dazzle Hearse is still running -- for now. But it's about time to retire it. |
